Experiential Knowledge Through the Lens of Bergson's Intuition.
DOI: n/a
This paper explores the concept of experiential knowledge in health through the lens of Henri Bergson's philosophy of intuition. It examines the four key attributes of experiential knowledge — individuality, holistic nature, context-specificity, and pragmatic value — originally identified by Borkman and incorporated by subsequent researchers. Using Bergson's concept of intuition as a theoretical framework, the study interrogates usual distinctions between experiential knowledge and abstract knowledge in health contexts. The paper uses the Autonomous Medication Management (GAM-BR) approach in Brazilian mental health services as a case study to illustrate how Bergsonian intuition can deepen our understanding of experiential knowledge, particularly in mental health settings.
