This text approaches the subject of musical representations, specially within the field of computer-aided composition. To situate the subject on a broader perspective, we recall the main lines of the hermeneutical critics of representation, as well as the critics of linear algorithmics, these two currents of thought coinciding in the necessity of a formal « uncompleteness » as a condition of any committement to action (and of any « intelligent » behaviour). An important place is reserved to the concept of network, as well as that of granularity, as these concepts imply a revision of the logic of functionalism in the light of a logic of emergence.
