Allen Newell wrote his paper “The Knowledge Level” in 1982 , inventing a new meaning for knowledge, useful for computer scientists. This proposition was very innovative, allowing system designers to think differently the notions of digital document and browsing among content. But by analysing several recent systems, we have found that most of it tries to build down that Knowledge approach and to replace it by a Collection approach.
